Threaded Pipe & Tube Fittings
Threaded pipe and tube fittings join instrument tubing, small-bore pipe and manifold ports without welding, so a line can be extended or repaired with hand tools. R-LOK supplies the family in 316 and 316L stainless steel with NPT threads from 1/8 in to 1 in, and ISO 7/1 or ISO 228 threads on request. Material certificates and dimensional inspection records ship with each order.

What the range covers
The family covers straight and branching shapes: IHN hex nipples, IHLN extended nipples, IHRN reducing nipples, IFE and IME male elbows, ISE and IRSE male-to-female elbows, IMT and HTU male tees, and IFC crosses.
Series codes group the shapes: C short hex nipple, H hex nipple, R reducing nipple, E elbow, T tee, C cross, P plug or cap. Female parts include the IHC coupling, IPC cap and IPP plug; HEU, HFN, HFMT and HTU bodies take VCR ends.
Design and materials
Bodies are machined from solid bar rather than cast, which keeps the bore concentric and the wall thickness uniform around the thread. Catalogue photography marks the standard material 316L; 316 is the usual alternative.
A threaded joint has no elastomeric seal: the fine tapered NPT thread closes metal to metal, so the fitting is limited by the metal and not by an O-ring or gasket compound.
Selection and installation
Confirm the thread form and size on each port, the shape required, and whether the hex clears nearby pipework. A 1 in elbow needs about 45 mm of swing space; check the L, A or S dimension column.
Apply thread sealant or PTFE tape to male NPT threads, leaving the first two threads bare, and tighten with a wrench. Mixed stainless and carbon steel threads are worth avoiding in wet service.
Standards referenced: NPT thread form per ASME B1.20.1; ISO 7/1 taper and ISO 228 parallel threads on request; Dimensions per catalogue section 3-01 to 3-24, in mm.
Typical duties: Instrument tubing at transmitters and gauges; Small-bore piping on hydraulic and pneumatic panels; Oil and gas skid sample and impulse lines; Chemical dosing and utility lines in petrochemical plants; Water treatment and process lines in pharmaceutical plants; Battery and hydrogen process skids.

Selection notes: Pages 3-03 to 3-18 print only model code, thread size and mm dimensions; working pressure, temperature basis, body material, seat/packing and Cv are not published on these pages, so no material or rating is stated here. Ask the factory to confirm body material and pressure/temperature ratings before this table is published; the sections divider page (page061) shows a 316L marking on one photographed fitting, but no material specification table accompanies it.
Catalogue reference 3-03, 3-04, 3-07, 3-08, 3-11, 3-12, 3-17, 3-18. Confirm the final rating against the data sheet issued with your order.

Frequently asked questions
Which thread standard is used, NPT or BSP?
The standard catalogue line is NPT to ASME B1.20.1, in 1/8 to 1 in. ISO 7/1 taper threads and ISO 228 parallel threads are available on request, and the IHN series includes ISO parallel Pipe thread columns, so state the requirement when enquiring.
What is the pressure rating of these fittings?
Catalogue tables on pages 3-01 to 3-24 give dimensions only, with no pressure or temperature column. A threaded joint is also limited by the mating pipe and by how it is made up, so ratings are confirmed for the exact size, material and thread combination.
What documents, minimum order and lead time apply?
Minimum order quantities and lead times depend on how many catalogue lines the order touches; a mixed order ships as one consignment. Quotes follow catalogue part numbers, or send a line list and we map each item to a series code.
Request a quote or technical clarification
Send us the model, size, material and quantity you need — or a photo of the existing part. We reply with a quotation, availability and the applicable documents, usually within one working day.
