Setting a repeatable flow

A stem advances into the seat over several turns, so the operator sets a small, repeatable flow instead of only opening or closing the line. The range splits by how the bonnet attaches.

SINV uses an integral bonnet on a forged body with 2.0 mm to 9.5 mm orifices and Cv 0.09 to 1.80. SBNV uses a barstock body: 4.3 mm and 6.4 mm. SUNV uses a union bonnet with 4.0 mm, 6.0 mm and 11.0 mm orifices.

Materials and seating

Bodies come in 316 stainless steel, brass, alloy 400, alloy 20, alloy 600 and alloy C-276. Stems are 316 stainless steel or alloy 400. Bonnet, packing nuts and gasket are 316 stainless steel, and the disc spring is S17700 (17-7 PH).

The standard stem is a metal-to-metal cone; a regulating stem throttles finer over the same turns and a PCTFE soft seat shuts off tighter. Packing sets the temperature limit: PTFE to 450 F, PEEK to 600 F, graphite on SUNV to 1,200 F (648 C).

Ends and part numbers

Tube-ferrule ends take 1/16 in to 1 in (1.6 mm to 25.4 mm) OD tubing depending on series. Threaded ends are NPT or ISO tapered (BSPT) from 1/8 in to 1 in, male or female. SUNV adds socket-weld ends.

Part numbers follow a fixed field order, as in SINV3A-M4N-S6-RS-PE-AH-SS: angle pattern, 6.3 mm orifice, 1/4 in NPT male inlet, 3/8 in ferrule outlet, regulating stem, PEEK packing, aluminium bar handle, 316 stainless body.

Standards referenced: ASTM A182 (F316 body), ASTM A276 (316 stem); ASTM B564, ASTM B283, ASTM B164, ASTM A693 (17-7 PH); NPT per ASME B1.20.1; BSPT per ISO 7-1; ASME B31.3.

Typical duties: Instrument air and impulse lines on wellheads; Gauge, transmitter and DP flow isolation; Sampling and analyzer panels in refineries; Hydraulic and pneumatic calibration rigs; Chemical injection and dosing skids; Steam and condensate sampling with graphite packing.

Frequently asked questions

Which documents come with the valves?

Each shipment can include mill material certificates, a dimensional inspection report, the nitrogen test record and the export packing list. Tell us at enquiry stage which certificate format your QA department requires and whether certificates must cite the heat numbers marked on the valves.

Should I order NPT or BSPT threads?

Both are available from 1/8 in to 1 in. NPT suits North American and Middle East projects and uses the N code (4N is 1/4 in NPT). BSPT, coded R (4R is 1/4 in BSPT), suits equipment built to ISO or Japanese standards.

What is the minimum order quantity?

For standard 316 stainless valves the usual minimum is 10 pieces per size, and series and sizes combine in one order. Alloy 400, alloy 600, alloy 20 and C-276 bodies are made to order at a higher minimum, so send the size list.
